Who we are

Learn Quran with Abdul ("we", "us", "the academy") is an online Quran academy offering one-to-one classes. Our teacher is based in Pakistan. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our classes, why we collect it and how we look after it.

If you have any questions, email us at learnquranwithabdul@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us in the booking form

When you request a free trial or admission, we ask for:

  • Whether the request is for a free trial or admission
  • Your relationship to the student (the student themselves, or a parent)
  • Parent or guardian name (optional)
  • Student name and age
  • Country and time zone
  • WhatsApp number
  • Email address (optional, but needed if you want to receive email updates)
  • The course you are interested in
  • Preferred class days and time
  • Preferred class platform (Zoom or Microsoft Teams)
  • The email address of your Zoom or Microsoft Teams account (optional)
  • Any message you choose to add (optional)
  • The date and time you agreed to this policy when submitting the form

Information we create when you become a student

If your request is approved, we keep a student record with the course, schedule, joining date and status (Trial, Active or Past Student), along with a history of your requests and any notes needed to arrange classes. We also keep a record of the emails we send you, such as approval and trial follow-up emails, and whether they were delivered.

Information you send us directly

If you contact us by email or WhatsApp, we receive your name, contact details and whatever you choose to include in your message.

Information collected when you visit the website

  • Security and technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider processes your IP address, browser type and similar technical details to deliver the site, protect it from abuse, limit repeated form submissions and keep basic logs.
  • Bot protection. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not an automated program, is submitting the form.
  • Cookie choices. We store your cookie preferences so we do not ask you on every visit.
  • Analytics and marketing data, only with your consent. If you accept analytics or marketing cookies, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel collect information about how you use the site. See our Cookie Policy for details.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Review and respond to free-trial and admission requests
  • Plan and schedule classes, including showing class times in your local time and in Pakistan time
  • Communicate with you about your request and classes by email and WhatsApp, including approval emails and a follow-up after the free trial
  • Invite the student to classes on Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Keep basic student records, such as course, schedule and status
  • Protect the website and our forms from spam and abuse
  • With your consent, understand how the website is used and measure the effectiveness of our advertising

We only send emails related to your request and classes. Every request is reviewed by a person; we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

Legal bases for using your information

Depending on where you live, data protection laws may require us to explain the legal basis for using your information. Where they apply, we rely on:

  • Steps before an agreement. Using the details in your request to consider it, arrange a trial and schedule classes you have asked for.
  • Consent. For analytics and marketing cookies, and where you agree to this policy when submitting the booking form. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests. Running and securing the website, preventing spam, keeping basic records and answering your messages, in ways you would reasonably expect.
  • Legal obligations. Where we are required to keep or share information by law.

Children

Many of our students are children. If the student is a child, the request should be submitted by a parent or guardian, who can choose "Parent" as their relationship to the student. We ask only for the information needed to plan suitable lessons, such as the student's name and age. If we learn that a child has submitted a request without a parent or guardian, we may contact the parent or guardian or delete the request.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We use a small number of service providers to run the academy:

  • Cloudflare hosts the website and provides our database, file storage, security and bot protection (Turnstile), and optional cookieless Web Analytics.
  • Resend delivers the emails we send, such as notifications and approval emails.
  • Google (Gmail) provides our email inbox, so emails you send us and new-request notifications are stored there.
  • Google Analytics 4 measures website usage, only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Meta Pixel measures the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram, only if you accept marketing cookies.
  • Zoom and Microsoft Teams are used to hold classes. When you use them, their own privacy policies apply.
  • WhatsApp is used if you contact us there or we message you about your classes. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a student or others.

International transfers

We are based in Pakistan, and our service providers may store or process information in other countries, including the United States and countries in Europe. These countries may have different data protection laws from yours. Where our providers offer safeguards for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses, we rely on them.

How long we keep information

  • Requests that do not lead to classes are kept while they are relevant, and for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted.
  • Student records are kept while the student is studying with us, and for up to 24 months after classes end, then deleted.
  • Emails and WhatsApp messages are kept only as long as they are useful for arranging classes.
  • Backups of our database are kept for a limited period, so deleted information may remain in a backup until that backup expires.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so unless we need to keep it for a legal reason.

How we protect your information

  • The website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
  • Booking information is visible only in a private admin dashboard that requires a login and is limited to the academy's owner.
  • Passwords are stored in a hashed form, never as plain text.
  • Contact details are never shown publicly on the website.
  • Forms are protected against spam and repeated automated submissions.

No website or online service can be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Sensitive information

We do not need sensitive information such as health details or identity documents, and we ask you not to include it in the message field. We recognize that requesting Quran classes may say something about a family's faith, so we treat all request information as confidential and use it only as described in this policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, for example to analytics or marketing cookies
  • Object to, or ask us to limit, certain uses of your information
  • Complain to your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email learnquranwithabdul@gmail.com. A parent or guardian can make a request on behalf of a child. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or services. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. If the changes are significant, we will make that clear on the website.
