Course overview
Tajweed is the set of rules for reciting the Quran as it should be recited: giving each letter its correct sound and qualities, and applying the rules that affect how letters sound together. This course turns those rules into habits through regular, guided recitation.
Students learn the points of articulation (makharij) and the qualities of the letters, then move on to the rules of noon saakin and tanween, meem saakin, ghunnah, madd, qalqalah, heavy and light letters, and stopping and starting. Each rule is explained simply and then practiced in real recitation, not just memorized as theory.
What a typical class looks like
Weekday classes last 30 minutes, or 1 hour on a Saturday-and-Sunday-only schedule. A typical lesson includes:
- Recitation of the previous portion, with feedback on the rules already covered
- A clear explanation of one new rule, with examples from the Quran
- Guided practice, where the student recites and the teacher corrects in the moment
- A short summary of what to focus on before the next class
Because classes are one-to-one on Zoom or Microsoft Teams, the teacher can focus on the student's particular mistakes, rather than working through a fixed group syllabus.
How progress is tracked
The teacher notes which rules the student applies confidently and which still need work. For younger students, parents receive regular updates on WhatsApp. Adult students get feedback directly in class and on WhatsApp. Progress is measured by how the student actually recites, not by how many rules they can list.
Is this course right for you?
Tajweed is a good fit if:
- The student can already read the Quran from the Mushaf
- They want to correct pronunciation and recite with more precision
- They are preparing for Hifz, or want to improve their recitation in salah
If reading is still slow or uncertain, Nazra may be the better first step. A 3 Days Free Trial will help you decide.
