Course overview
Qaida is where Quran reading begins. Using the Noorani Qaida, students learn to recognize the Arabic letters, pronounce each one from its correct place and gradually join letters into words. Step by step, they work through short vowels, tanween, long vowels, sukoon and shaddah until they can read simple words and phrases on their own.
Daily Masnoon Duas are taught alongside the lessons, with short duas chosen to suit the student's age.
What a typical class looks like
Weekday classes last 30 minutes, or 1 hour on a Saturday-and-Sunday-only schedule. A typical lesson includes:
- A quick revision of the previous lesson
- New letters or rules, demonstrated by the teacher and repeated by the student
- Reading practice, with gentle correction of each sound
- A short dua or recap to finish
For young children, we keep activities short and varied, with plenty of encouragement. Every class is one-to-one on Zoom or Microsoft Teams, so the teacher hears every letter the student reads.
How progress is tracked
The teacher keeps track of which lesson each student has reached and which sounds need more practice. Parents receive regular feedback on WhatsApp, such as the current lesson and what to practice at home between classes. When a student reads the Qaida confidently, the teacher will suggest moving on to Nazra.
